Built for the long haul.

★★★★★
I finally stopped using six apps. The journal + flashcard loop is the only thing that's made new characters actually stick for me.

As a teacher, I love that students can export their HSK progress. The grammar section's good/bad examples save me so much explaining.

Frequently asked

Got questions?

Do I need any prior Chinese to start?
None. HSK 1 starts at zero — you'll learn pinyin, tones, and your first 150 characters in context. The daily journal adapts prompts to your level.
How is this different from Duolingo or Anki?
Duolingo teaches you sentences but doesn't unpack characters. Anki is powerful but lonely and unstructured. HanziBit is a guided notebook — write, encounter new words, flashcard them, and see your HSK ladder fill up.
What's the spaced repetition algorithm?
HanziBit uses SM-2, the same algorithm behind Anki. It schedules each card based on how well you recalled it — surfacing words you're forgetting while leaving the ones you've nailed alone.
Can I print my journal entries?
Yes — Pro users can print any journal entry directly from the app. Great for review sessions away from the screen.
Do you support traditional characters?
Currently simplified only. Traditional is on the roadmap for late 2026.
Is there an iOS / Android app?
The web app is fully mobile-responsive and works great in your browser. Native apps are on the roadmap.
